Dear Taka-san:
I also need to say Wow!!! on the news of extreme importance that you just sent.
With that I wish to send my “SALUDOS” and deep respect and admiration to our Hibakusha friends who have taken a very important step in their struggle for peace and justice.
It is unfortunate that the Japanese government should shame itself before the international community by taking a stand that has long been proven wrong. The experience of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is a tragic truth that will continue to move us all and inspire us to persevere in our work for nuclear abolition. The Hibakusha presence in our consciousness is the lifeblood of the peace movement today. There is always pain in remembering the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki but there is as well courage, freedom and compassion that every Hibakusha continues to inspire in all of us for their unending stories of life, love, courage and fortitude in their struggles.
I wish to join you in solidarity on the occasion of your “sit-in”, I wish to be with you in spirit and convey our continuing efforts here in the Philippines so that stories of the Hibakusha will continue to be known especially among the younger generation as part of campaign for nuclear abolition.
I wish for all of you continuing good health, passion for your work, joy in spirit and dedication for our long and protracted struggle so that justice will eventually be attained for every Hibakusha.
With my warmest regards and best wishes for your success,
“Hasta la victoria siempre!”
