Statement

We, the peace movement of the A-bombed country, protest against the subcritical nuclear test conducted by your government on November 2, 2020.

According to a document released by the Los Alamos National Laboratory, the results of the recent test, in conjunction with two more planned subcritical experiments, will be used for modernizing the U.S. nuclear arsenal.

On January 22, 2021, the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) enters into effect, rendering nuclear weapons illegal. The recent nuclear test by your country is a grave challenge to the global trend and world opinion calling for a nuclear weapon- free world.

We demand that your government forever stops all kinds of nuclear tests as well as the modernization of nuclear weapons planned in the Nuclear Posture Review, and withdraw all plans for developing new types of nuclear weapons. At the same time, in order to achieve a nuclear weapon-free world which your government agreed to do so, we call on you to fulfill the obligation of Article 6 of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and agreements reached in the past NPT Review Conferences, and join the TPNW.
