Members of the Presidium, Delegates and my dear Friends,
I take this opportunity to thank the Organizing Committee to give us an opportunity to participate and make a presentation in the 2001 World Conference against A& H Bombs.

Friends, I represent Centre For Indian Trade Unions (CITU) which is a vanguard of the working class movement in India. We are in the forefront of all the progressive movements that take place in our country. The world has now become unipolar and the U.S. imperialism through its organs like the IMF, the World Bank and the WTO is subjudicating, dictating and imposing its conditions on the people of our country.

Friends, my country India and our neighbor Pakistan have recently declared themselves as nuclear states. It may not be out of place to mention here that voice of sanity in the world would be silent, if we believe that the nuclear test represented the will of the people of India.

In India, the peoplefs voices have asserted for peace and disarmament and rejected the nuclear policy adopted by the Government. We in the Trade Unions feel very strongly that these resources which are diverted for gaining nuclear strength could better be utilised for primary education, health and development for a strong and a very self reliant India.

We must take some campaign program throughout the world to make it nuclear-free. There should be Peace Committee in each country comprising of all sections of people and all political parties.

As an activist, it is my earnest appeal to the whole world, irrespective of their nationality and political beliefs, they should extend their full supports to the rising campaign for complete abolition of nuclear weapons.

gNo more Hiroshimash
gNo more Nagasakish
gNo more Hibakushah

Let the world live in peace.
LONG LIVE WORKING CLASS UNITY!
